Soroptimist International of Sequim provides scholarships, awards and recognition to youth, women and businesses within the community.


LIVE YOUR DREAM AWARDEDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR WOMEN

The LIVE YOUR DREAM AWARD supports education and training for women.

These $1000- $2000 awards are available to women who have financial need and provide the primary financial support for their dependents. To qualify, you must be enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.

The funds are given to the awardee and may be used for any purpose that will help them reach their career and educational goals.  This award is to help you enter or re-enter the job market, or to further your skills and training to upgrade your employment status.

The Soroptimist International of Sequim Professional-Technical Scholarships are hosted by the Peninsula College Foundation. There are two $2000 scholarships for female students seeking a certificate in any of the Professional-Technical programs at Peninsula College.

Applicants

  • Must be enrolled at Peninsula College each quarter in a program leading to a certificate.
  • Must be enrolled in one of the Professional Technical Programs, with the intention of earning a certificate
  • May be given a second time to the same student provided that student continues to meet all criteria
  • Must be a woman
  • Preference given to a student with financial need
  • Preference given to a woman 50+
  • Award funds can be used for tuition, mandatory fees, books, and supplies
  • Scholarship funds to be split over each quarter of the academic year for which it is awarded.

CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS 

Soroptimist International of Sequim awards scholarships for women who are continuing their education. Applicants must be female graduates of Sequim High School OR have a legal address within the Sequim School District. They also need to have completed one year (24 semester credits or 30 quarter units) of post-secondary education and will be continuing their education in the fall of this year. Applications will be available May 15, 2024 and must be postmarked by August 15, 2024. Click here for the application.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are chosen in April. Soroptimist International of Sequim awards at least two scholarships to graduating Sequim High School senior girls. Recipients are chosen based on criteria consisting of clearly stated goals, motivation to achieve those goals, references, participation in advanced or college classes, extracurricular activities or work, and financial need as set forth in their scholarship notebooks. These awards are paid directly to the student’s choice of institution of learning although a recipient may apply to have one quarter of their award in cash to use for college expenses other than tuition.
