WIN (Women In Networks) Report

The WIN committee wishes to congratulate Cathy Angel and Connie Poulsen for becoming mentors this term.  Deb Danielson is also pursuing another young girl as her mentee. Thank you for your involvement in this meaningful program.

The WIN committee is in the process of planning a luncheon meeting for the girls with a “big name” speaker.  We are also planning several local and statewide fieldtrips to colleges and businesses that will help to inspire the girls to continue their educations and to dream big dreams for themselves.  Following these dreams will allow them to fully utilize their talents for their own satisfaction and to the benefit of their communities.  Anyone wishing to help on either project, please call or email Lin McJunkin.  681-3486 mcjunkin@olypen.com.

    (WIN)ERS IN THE COMMUNITY

We have enjoyed some special events with the WIN students this year. They were given a Project Planner at the beginning of the school year and we asked them to participate in some of our fundraisers.

Several students helped with the Salvation Army ell ringing so we could collect at both Safeway and QFC this past December. We had a good response from them when we asked for volunteers to help with the food program for homeless and orphaned children in Africa. We will have a cadre of students to assist with the Garden Show. Over 20 students expressed an interest in helping at the Irrigation Parade VIP luncheon and selling See’s candy along the parade route. They certainly have captured the opportunity of providing a valued service to the community.
