INTERNATIONAL GOODWILL and UNDERSTANDING
To all our Soroptimist supporters! Just wanted to thank all of you for your support on the feeding program. We collected well over $400.00, by the time all comes in it might go over $500. We had a grand time chanting “ soy, spice, chicken and rice” while we packaged 2,500 meals. There were about 20 in attendance including 4 high school girls. The cartons were decorated, some with the Soroptimist logo. The driving school was a great place to use, thanks to Pat Pottiger! Many thanks to all who worked. I think we all had a grand time!!! Please pat yourself on the back! The cartons will be off to Malawei, Africa on Feb. 10th. The country has a shortage of corn this year, the growing season has already passed, so this food will be a God-send to young children in the villages.

FEEDING THE CHILDREN

It was great to see some of our new members working side-by-side with
members who have been in the club for years. This is a great  way to build
friendships while having fun and giving something back to the community.
The children say many, many thanks.

NATT - NIGHT AT THE THEATRE

The Night At the Theatre Committee was a determined group of women who had two major goals this year: 1) to SELL OUT the ENTIRE theatre, and 2) to make sure EVERYONE HAD A GOOD TIME.

Mission accomplished!! It’s hard to hold a determined Soroptimist committee down, and this was no exception. It helped that they had a terrific musical comedy to promote - “Little Shop of Horrors,” a fantastic cast of local performers, wonderful catchy tunes (we still break into SUDDENLY SEYMOUR once in a while....) and the cooperation of the entire membership who heeded the call to sell the tickets they were given. We got a chance to promote the 2002 Garden Show at intermission, and even feed the crowd some yummies, including, of course, the fabulous Sees Candy! A big thanks to Olympic Theatre Arts for providing coffee & punch & assisting us in pulling this off.

It was a wonderful fund raising experience - get involved next year if you get the chance! Night At The Theatre....raising a record-breaking $870 for our community!!! Thanks, thanks, thanks again NATT Committee!

CLUB HISTORY

Our Club History files are now “somewhat” organized. Dee, Elaine & Mayme went through all our albums, photos, newspaper articles and miscellaneous “treasures”, weeded out duplicates etc., and brought several items to the next meeting to distribute among our members. The history files are now stored in newly purchased file boxes and located in our storage unit.

An idea for next year: members on this committee might bring one or two files boxes to a meeting for members to enjoy. Also more work is needed to file some of the photos that are still in “envelopes” and move into albums.

Thanks again to Mayme & Elaine.
