Dear Soroptimists,

Welcome Spring!! My yellow tulips are blooming and our 5th Annual Garden Show was another huge success, thanks to the efforts of each member. A special thank you to core committee members who plan and meet through out our year to help this show run like a well oiled machine. You are all a great bunch of women who know how to persevere right through to the finish. Here’s what Woody Allen says, “ Eighty percent of success is showing up”.

Kudu’s to all members who have thoughtfully considered Leadership positions. The nomination committee continuous to seek overly committed, busy members who care about Soroptimist Ideals to serve on our Board of Directors for the coming year 2003-2004. Contact Jenni Dix or Alex Priest if you would like to shock them......volunteers make them very happy this time of year.

A gracious welcome to all of our new members this year.....Marie Angier, Suzanne Little, Megan O’Donnell, Sue Ellen Riesau, Dale Simon, Penny Wolf; and our newest member Marilyn Gruber and our transfer member Marilyn Hoosier. We hope you all like us as well as we have enjoyed your company this year. We hope you continue your membership for years to come. Let us know ways to encourage you in Soroptimist Service.

As I look forward to the final three months of my Presidency, we still have much to accomplish.

April will bring our second Potluck evening meeting April 1st with Anne Pence and Sherry Schubert presenting our program on Human Rights/Status of Women. This meeting will be lots of fun. The rest of April is adhering to our current schedule.

May, in addition to our regular meeting schedule will feature Night at the Theatre on the 29th. This is mostly a blast and a great way to introduce your friends to Soroptimist. If you have never attended, you have missed out.....mark your calendars. You will be hearing more about this. The Budget Committee also meets in May. Committee Chairs need to consider their budgets (or lack of)and report to this committee, before they meet!!! They will be notifying us, with a date.

June will bring a Joint Board Meeting on June 6th to insure a smooth transition. Installation will follow on June 17th with your new President asking for your creative ideas for our coming year. July brings a respite from Soroptimist with the new board meeting in August. Regular meetings begin in September.

A friend of mine always says, “Pretty soon we will be talking about it” and so it goes....

Enjoy each day,

President Leah
