MARILYN HOOSER

in her own words...

I was inducted into S I Brawley, CA in October, 1970. There, I have served as treasurer, vice pres, pres, delegate, & director. I was privileged to represent Brawley at the Federation Convention in Calgary. At which time Ileane Bidwell, a member of Brawley, presided as Federation President and Marlo

to finish college. After completing her college education (a Degree in Landscape Architecture), Suzanne returned to Alaska.

Suzanne worked in City Planning and was elected to the equivalent post of County Commissioner and then was elected to the Alaska State Senate. She served for two years as an Alaska State Senator and was selected as the most effective legislator in 1994.

After her re-election loss, Suzanne was hired to run the Boys and Girls Club on the Kenai Peninsula and grew the organization from one site to eight academic-focused sites.

Moving south in October of 2001, Suzanne was hired to run the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula serving more than 1,200 youth on the Olympic Peninsula.

Thomas was guest luncheon speaker. It was a very impressing experience.

I became a life member of the Brawley Club in 1995, I transferred my membership to Holtville, where I resumed active membership to serve as vice pres, treasurer & pres. In June 2001, I resumed my life membership just prior to Federation law changes that allows life members, which were attained before 7/1/01, to keep that status but eliminates future transfers to life status.

I retired 4/15/02, after working for more than 40 years as a bookkeeper, office manger, accountant and tax preparer and moved to Sequim. It is my plan to be a volunteer tax preparer next year for the AARP low income senior program in Sequim.

My husband of 44 years died in Aug 99 after being disabled for 20 years. I have 2 adopted adult children. My current interests include gardening, photography, oil & watercolor painting, and my 4 small dogs. My budget restraints prohibit my interest in travel.
