Dear Soroptimists,

Time is short for our Soroptimist year 2002-2003. Overall it has been a pretty smooth year, each Soroptimist contributing to the work in serving our community and world. Although it was disappointing to stand alone, without a President Elect or Vice President, all board members participated to help things run smoothly. Thank you, ladies.

Spring brings graduation and Scholarship Awards. Soon we will be meeting to make our selections from among the graduates of Sequim High School. Many Soroptimists who have participated in this process thoroughly enjoy it. If you have not participated before, please join us this year. It's a late night but lots of fun. By the time you read this most of you will have heard that we were twice notified to submit an application to the State of Washington Higher Education Coordinating Board to apply for Grant money to give to high school students attending college in Washington State. Although the application was lengthy, Sandy Reed and I persevered. To my delight this week we received an extra $2000.00 to award to students of Sequim High School.

We have our last official fundraising event for our General Club Fund. Alex and her committee are planning a fun filled Evening at the Theater for May 29th. Bring your family and friends and lets pack the Theater...its more fun that way. Expect to be entertained, enjoy intermission goodies and support Soroptimist all at the same time. What could be better??

Let me take this opportunity to thank each member for your gift to our club. Your time, friendship and service is important to your community and especially to me as your President. I have felt very supported and encouraged by your enthusiasm, your knowledge and your willingness to serve. I know I have asked extra things from some of you this year. Thank you for meeting my request with a positive attitude. It has been my pleasure to serve as your President.

I hope I have encouraged each Soroptimist this year to consider leadership positions on our Board of Directors. Thank you to all our incoming Slate of Officers for 2003-2004, we welcome your input and leadership for the coming year. As we make "official" our new slate of officers for the coming year, I know I can count on each member to support, encourage and fulfill your responsibly as Soroptimists. This will greatly encourage your new Board of Directors.

I look forward to our newest members continuing their membership in the coming years. Your have learned much about our organization, but there is always more to learn. Besides we want to get to know your better.

I will leave you with this Notable Quote: "In the heroic organizations, people mentor each other unselfishly." --Don Galer I believe Soroptimist International of Sequim meets this criteria. Thank you for your sevice this year.

Best Regards,

President Leah
