INTERNET COORDINATOR UPDATE

If you look at your Roster Book for June, you’ll see June 10 shows a Business Meeting. What it doesn’t show is that there is going to be a special presentation by your Internet Coordinator.

Our incoming President, Gail Frick, has offered us the use of her laptop computer and a projector. Petals Garden Cafe will supply a roll up screen.

You will have the opportunity to see the Northwestern Region Website LIVE! We will be connecting to the Internet with Gail’s laptop computer, which will be hooked up to the projector. The images that appear on the laptop screen will appear – much larger of course – for all to see on the roll up screen.

If you’ve never been to the NWR website, or if you’ve tried to get on the secured area but had trouble, or if you just want to see what’s new on the site, be there for the meeting on June 10. Mark your calendars, ladies. I hope to see you all there!

MEDICAL LOAN CLOSET (MLC)

When you ask people in the community if they have ever heard of Soroptimist International of Sequim, many respond affirmatively. When asked what they know about Soroptimists they say something like: “You’re the folks who have medical equipment people in the community can borrow.” This is true, but that is not all we do. Still it is interesting that the Medical Loan Closet is so much a part of our community. Perhaps Marcia Beggs and Dorothy Herritt did more PR than they know.

The MLC exists because there is a need. It is kept active by support from our club and by contributions from the community, sometimes with donations of equipment sometimes with donations of funds.

The MLC recently received a wonderful walker from Leslie McDaniel, a very generous local woman. Leslie said she had been supporting the Sequim Food Bank as her major contribution locally, but felt that they were already well provided for. She attended one of our Soroptimist meetings as a guest of Jeanne Martin’s. Leslie remembered the work we do and purchased the deluxe walker (costing more than $250) at Frick’s Drugs, a local company.

She also said she plans to contribute another walker later this year. Leslie wanted to help our community and knew that teaming with Soroptimists would allow her donation to be put to good use for a long time to come. Leslie is truly supporting her community, in so many ways. We are grateful for her generosity, compassion and attitude. This is a woman who leads by example. Thank you, Leslie from Soroptimist of Sequim and from the citizens of Sequim for improving the quality of life for many of our senior citizens.
